Our Founder’s Journey: From Refugee to Visionary:

I’m Tafreed, the founder of Záy Sheen. My journey, like many, has been marked by resilience and determination. For over seven years, my family and I lived as refugees in Thailand, facing daily struggles just to make ends meet. Despite these hardships, the unwavering support of my parents, Zubia and Sheraz, kept our spirits high. My mother’s cooking brought joy and comfort to our home, and it was this sense of warmth that inspired us to start a YouTube channel, Zubia’s Kitchen, in April 2019.

What started as a platform for sharing my mother’s beloved recipes soon evolved into something much greater. In August 2020, a simple vlog showcasing traditional Pakistani clothes sparked an idea: why not bring a piece of home to those who, like us, missed the cultural connection? This idea led to the birth of Záy Sheen.

The Heart Behind the Name: A Tribute to Family:

Záy Sheen is more than a brand name—it’s a tribute to my incredible parents, whose love and guidance have been the cornerstone of my journey. After exploring various names like Zubia’s Clothing and Zubia’s Fabric, we knew we needed something that felt uniquely ours. “Zubia” begins with Z, and my father Sheraz’s name starts with S. In Urdu, these letters are pronounced as “Zay” and “Sheen.” And that’s how Záy Sheen was born—a name that not only stands out but also serves as a daily reminder of the love and support that fuel our dreams.

Building Community: From Thailand to New York:

Our journey has been one of growth and expansion. We spent two years building our business in Thailand, capturing a segment of the online clothing market by offering traditional Pakistani, Indian, and Thai garments. In July 2023, we took a giant leap forward by expanding to New York, United States. Today, we are proudly operating from New York, bringing our vision to a global audience.
